| The territory of Natural Park Shoumen Plateau is distinguished with its incredible nature beauties and variety of plant life. |
|
There are available 5 threatened with extinction and 11 rare plant spices which are included in the Red Book of Bulgaria. There also 9 protected spices. A great number of orchid fields are spread all over the marvelous areas of the park. Representatives of Orchidaceae family are under protection in coordination with the international convention CITES, which is prohibiting the commerce of wild nature spices. Such spices could be found merely all over the world, but their biggest variety is in the tropical forests. The family includes over 25000 spices from about 750 genera. There are 120 sorts in Europe and about 50 in Bulgaria. |
| Terrain researches provided by DPP ascertain the availability of 15 spices orchids belonging to 10 genera. The name Ophrys cor�uta Stev. comes from the incredible form of the blossom ,which makes easier the cross-pollination. |
