The Natural park Shoumen Plateau is declared for protected territory in 1980 with purpose to protect and preserve the typical landscape, big variety of esteemed flora and fauna and places appropriate for tourism.

The whole area of the park is about 3895.8 hectares .It�s highest point is 502 metres. The relief is with great variety of surfaces and underground Karst forms. There are about sixty caves. The most attractive of them is the cave Biserna. There aren�t permanent running surface waters but in the foot of the plateau spout many Karst springs. The river Poroyna takes it�s source from Kyoshkovete area / locality/.The climate is middlecontinent.
